This policy explains what information FlightsExp (flightsexp.com) collects, how it's used and the choices you have. FlightsExp is run from Australia, and we handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles.
The short version
- You don't need an account, and we never ask for your name, address or payment details.
- We only collect your email address if you sign up for a price alert, and you can stop alerts any time.
- We don't sell your personal information.
- Our affiliate partners use cookies to track clicks and bookings so we can earn a commission.
- Bookings are made on our partners' sites, under their privacy policies.
Information we collect
When you visit the site
The site is hosted by Cloudflare. Like any website, your browser sends technical details with each visit, such as your IP address, browser and device type, and the pages you view. Cloudflare uses this to deliver and protect the site and keeps short-term logs. Cloudflare also tells us your approximate location (country and nearby city, worked out from your IP address), which we use to suggest your nearest airport and currency. We don't store it.
Your searches
The routes and dates you search for are sent to our server to look up prices from our data partner, Travelpayouts (Aviasales). They aren't linked to your name or any account.
Preferences saved on your device
We save your chosen currency and departure city in your browser's local storage so they're remembered next time. This stays on your device, and you can clear it at any time in your browser settings.
Price alerts
If you create a price alert, we store your email address, the route and your target price so we can email you when the fare drops. We first send one email asking you to confirm. If you don't confirm within 7 days, we delete the alert. Every alert email has a link to stop alerts, and unsubscribing deletes the alert straight away. We only use your email for the alerts you asked for, never for marketing, and we don't share it with anyone except the service that sends our emails. To limit abuse, we also keep a scrambled (hashed) version of your IP address with the alert.
When you email us
Emails to contact@flightsexp.com are forwarded to our inbox by Cloudflare. We use your email only to reply to you, and we keep it only as long as needed.
Cookies and affiliate tracking
We earn commission through the Travelpayouts affiliate network. Our pages load a Travelpayouts script that may set cookies or use similar technology to record visits and clicks on partner links, so that bookings can be credited to us.
When you click through to a partner such as Aviasales, Booking.com, Klook or Airalo, that partner may set its own cookies and will handle any personal and payment details you give them under its own privacy policy. Please read their policies before you book.
Services we use
- Cloudflare: hosting, security, email forwarding, and storing price alerts.
- Resend: sends our price-alert emails.
- Cloudflare Web Analytics: counts page views and visits so we can see which pages are useful. It doesn't use cookies or track individual visitors.
- Travelpayouts / Aviasales: flight prices, airline logos and affiliate tracking.
- Google Fonts: the site's typeface is loaded from Google, so Google can see your IP address.
- Google Search Console: tells us how the site appears in Google search, using aggregated data only.
These providers may store and process information outside Australia, including in the United States and Europe.
Your choices and rights
- You can block or delete cookies in your browser, or use privacy tools that block tracking scripts. The site still works without them.
- You can ask to access or correct personal information we hold about you. We hold very little, usually only emails you've sent us.
- If you're in the EU or UK, you also have the right to ask us to delete your information or to object to how it's used.
To make a request or a complaint, email contact@flightsexp.com. We'll respond within 30 days. If you're not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
Children
FlightsExp isn't directed at children under 16, and we don't knowingly collect their information.
Changes to this policy
We'll update this page if our practices change, and show the date of the latest version at the top.
